Glioblastoma (GBM) is one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. In the Netherlands, over a thousand people receive this diagnosis each year, often followed by a journey filled with fear, pain, and uncertainty. Current diagnostic methods are burdensome: invasive biopsies, long waiting times, and results that do not always clearly distinguish between tumor growth and treatment-related changes. For patients and their families, this means ongoing doubt, stress, and a lack of perspective. It doesn’t have to be this way.

At Maastricht University, researchers led by Eva Cuypers are working on a breakthrough that could transform care for GBM patients. They are developing an innovative blood test that can detect glioblastoma faster, less invasively, and more reliably. By analyzing small molecules in the blood—the unique “fingerprints” of the disease—diagnosis and monitoring can be much less burdensome. This provides patients and doctors with faster clarity and opens the door to more personalized treatment options.

Support is essential to validate this promising approach and bring it into clinical practice. With your contribution, we can help bring closer a future where GBM diagnostics are less invasive, more accurate, and more hopeful.

Will you support this research so that patients can gain more peace, clarity, and hope?
