We are live: campaign against oral cavity cancer!
Worldwide, cancer is one of the most deadliest diseases. Annually, around 1.000 Dutch people, are diagnosed with oral cavity cancer. Half of these patients die within 5 years of this, unfortunately, growing form of cancer. For those who do survive, the surgical treatment has major functional, aesthetic and social consequences on their lives. Therefore, prevention is extremely important to detect oral cavity cancer at an early stage. It is time to take action!
With the campaign, “Support the new cancer screening tool”, Lauretta Vaassen, a maxillofacial surgeon and head-and neck oncologist at MUMC+, wants to develop a new tool for the early identification and better cure for oral cavity cancer. Rapid detection decreases the medical consequences and increases the chance of cure significantly. To develop this tool, Lauretta needs at least €25.000. Although the first steps have been taken, additional funds are sorely needed. Contribute too to this important campaign against oral cavity cancer and donate!
