Support the fight against kidney disease!

from €5,000 (37%)

Two million Dutch people suffer from chronic kidney disease (CKD) which results in progressive damage of the kidney. This leads to a gradual loss of kidney function. CKD can be caused by high blood pressure, diabetes, but certainly also by an unhealthy lifestyle. People with CKD are at an increased risk of kidney failure and of cardiovascular disease. It is therefore important to detect possible kidney damage at an early stage. Prevention is better than cure. There is currently no accessible way to promote prevention.

An app for prevention!

As part of the Social Impact Project talented Biomedical Sciences students at Maastricht University want to develop a mobile app. The goal: prevention in the field of kidney disease, raising awareness about kidney failure and adopting a healthy lifestyle. In particular, they are targeting the younger generation. A minimum of 5,000 euros is required for the development of this app.

Unfortunately, the students lack the required funding for the development of this innovative app. To achieve their goal, they need your support! Will you help?

“Awareness surrounding kidney diseases is limited and mainly targets patients. Expanding awareness to a broader audience, around prevention, is of utmost importance. This can substantially impact the fight of this global healthcare burden. We aim to develop an app initially targeting a younger generation but gradually expanding its spectrum to the broader population.” - Juliette, Lieke, Isa, Isabelle - Students Biomedical Sciences
